NEPHAK Agenda for 2011 and Beyond

NEPHAK 2011 Agenda

In 2011 and looking forward over the next 5 years NEPHAK will work to consolidate and capitalize on the gains made from the 2010 initiatives and activities. The clarion call will still be Universal Access and Human Rights for PLHIV.

Internally, the network will work towards finalizing our ODSS agenda initiated in 2010. Already, the network has acquired support from NACC, the UNDP office in Nairobi and the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD) programme to complete this noble task. With strong governance, management structures and systems, NEPHAK has embarked on a sustainable and credible path needed to reposition the network to its former vibrant past. NEPHAK 4th National Delegates Conference (NDC) scheduled for late 2011 will be the final activity under this initiative.

Targeted advocacy and communication to invigorate national efforts aimed at the delivery of Universal Access to services remain the core focus of NEPHAK. In 2011, NEPHAK is seeking to foster partnerships to ensure that commodities and services needed to prevent, diagnose and treat TB and HIV are available, affordable and accessible.

NEPHAK will be embarking on monitoring the compliance of the adoption and rollout of the new WHO HIV treatment guidelines. We will be paying keen attention to diagnosis and treatment of TB among PLHIV and children. Increased access to quality laboratory services is a priority for NEPHAK leadership and membership.

NEPHAK is also remaining focused on bringing about a prevention revolution and sustainable financing. NEPHAK will work in 2011 with NASCOP and other partners to accelerate the roll-out of Positive Health Dignity and Prevention (PHDP) and lead the implementation of activities aimed at improving the lives and wellbeing of PLHIV and affected communities. NEPHAK is already part of the Kenya HIV and AIDS Resource Allocation Initiative and will continue to advocate for sustainable HIV and TB sector funding. NEPHAK and our membership need sustainable and predictable supply of HIV and TB diagnosis and treatment commodities and services.

The future for NEPHAK is bright as it tackles a range of challenges in bringing about positive, real and meaningful changes to the lives of PLHIV and affected communities.
